Things That Are More Or Less Up In The Air

Some of these might be actually dead by now, but just to have a space to talk about these proposals and perhaps revive them, here is a list:
  • Outdoor Furniture
  • Storefront
  • Block Party
  • Band
  • T-shirts
Again, if anyone remembers any more... you know what to do.

Just to get discussion up and running on some of these:

It seems to be consensus that we are not doing a block party or a band, since Art in Action does this function already.

T-shirts we first mentioned in the context of the block party, but I think they could be useful as another form of viral advertising. If we used just scrap tees that people have around, printing should not be too much, assuming we have the expertise for stencils which I'm assuming we do.

Storefront is a more interesting idea to me. It ties in well with the subversive idea; when people come down to see the "open house" we're advertising for, and they run into this chalk-line blueprint, they may look for more information, or call our contact number, or whatever. A storefront conveniently placed across the street or within view from the chosen vacant lot could serve as a follow-up to the statement on the field. We could distribute publication, or use the space as a gallery with whatever objects people want to put in there, or anything we chose. The downside is that we run the risk of being too blatantly political (read: boring), and we may want to just have as our sole statement this chalked-off space.

So I guess what I'm getting at is that I think we should move T-shirts to the "definitely should do" pile, the band and block party to the "dead" pile, and discuss the storefront idea further in the "up in the air" pile.
